By now, you have developed the UX and UI of
your application. Even though the design
might change in the future due to
new requirements, you have what you need
to bring your afterlife. In this lesson, you will
learn about best practices. Explore how to fetch and store
data and apply what you've learned to display images with names, descriptions, and prices. Before a user can
order food in the app, they should be able to see high-quality images of the food that the little lemon serves, as well as the
names, descriptions, and prices of the food
clearly displayed. As a key component to creating a high-quality
application, you will learn
about fetching and displaying the food
images asynchronously. This means that the
task of loading the images can happen
in the background. The user interface isn't frozen while waiting for
tasks to be completed. You don't want the user
to stay on the app waiting for all the
images to be downloaded, before they're able
to scroll through the menu or navigate to
other pages of the app. After the images are
displayed correctly, the next important part of this process is the
food ordering flow. This lesson will introduce
you to the flowchart, which depicts the process
of ordering foods. With flowcharts, you can
identify and breakdown important steps
which will provide a bigger picture of
the entire process. Each step in the process
is independent and provides a description of
what happens at that stage, the type of input needed, and the output that
will be provided. Flowcharts can make
development easier, and when collaboration
is required, will save time for meetings and onboarding on the subject
matter with other programmers. There will also be a recap on
sorting and filtering data, which will be applied to
the food menu in the app. This will help users search
for food items on the menu, and filter items according
to their prices. Across this lesson, you will recap many things you
have learned already. But now they will be put together to bring
your app to life, so that it can become a
functional app for users. Pay attention to the
readings and the lesson, and to try to complete all the exercises and
quizzes available.
